Day three hundred and fifty nine.

Sunday. December 25, 2011

A few nights ago our dog, Caesar, was hit by a car. My dad heard the impact from inside the house while my mom watched my dog fly into the air. She was pretty hysterical and told my dad he must help Caesar--she couldn't bare to see him.
But this is no ordinary dog. He's a trooper, and he hobbled back to the front door on his own. We thought Caesar would suffer from internal bleeding or broken bones, but he seems to lack both--and is now doing very well. My mom says this was the best Christmas present, and I'd have to agree.

Everyone's been raving about the pumpkin spice latte at Caribou! So I purchased one during a studio break for $4.01. It was a sweet treat, but I'm not sure I can justify spending this much on a drink.

The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.

Two friends and I watched an independent film called, "Between the Folds."
I loved it.

"Origami may seem an unlikely medium for understanding and explaining the world. But around the globe, several fine artists and theoretical scientists are abandoning more conventional career paths to forge lives as modern-day paper folders. Through origami, these offbeat and provocative minds are reshaping ideas of creativity and revealing the relationship between art and science."

Exactly one year ago I fell down the stairs in my parents' house and broke my fibula. Today I celebrated my recovery with a marathon. I'm most grateful for my family for being there all the way--from wheeling me around in the emergency room, to cheering me on through the finish of 26.2 miles. Ya'll are great.

I left the remnants of my loose leaf tea, Indian Chai and Crimson Berry, sitting on a sheet of watercolor paper. The leaves seeped out to form a nice conglomeration of colors & patterns.
