My parents' friends came over for some food & cold beverages..
This couple is one of my favorites to talk and laugh with. They're moving to TX though, and I will miss them.

p.s. this day should go before the previous post. I just don't want to try to fix it.

Day two hundred and four.

Sunday, July 24, 2011

We went to the new fancy pool in town with my aunt and her sister-in-law. This was a nice getaway from the 100+ heat.

While at the pool a grasshopper landed on my wrist and I watched him clean himself for a good ten minutes. My favorite part is when he takes a strand of antennae between his legs to clean. He reminds me of a dog, or Pixar character.

Day two hundred and two.

Fri. July 22, 2011

Today was my last day volunteering at camp. The past two weeks have been tiresome, yet incredibly worthwhile. I admire the summer staff and year-round counselors who do all they can to give campers a wonderful week.

Day two hundred and one.

Thurs. July 21, 2011

The County Fair happened this week. Everyone at camp rides buses down to the fairgrounds--campers are allowed 1 hour of free rides each year, which is pretty neat. Here we are on the dizzy frog.

Five hours of floating down the Maquoketa River landed us to shore at 9 pm. This was one of my favorite days of the summer. Plenty of drinks, laughs, and falling off tubes.

Day one hundred and ninety five.

Fri. July 15, 2011

This weekend I saw my Ameri-friends for a mini reunion.
Eating HuHot and practicing our magical spells in preparation for HP 7.2

I love these folks dearly.

Day one hundred and ninety four.

Thurs. July 14, 2011

One of my favorite things about camp is that everyone, no matter what ability level, can be adventerous. Today we had everyone in the group make it inside the cave--which happened to be 50 degrees cooler than outside.

Day one hundred and ninety three.

Day one hundred and eighty four.

Monday. July 4, 2011

I spent the day at work, which was a different feeling than the usual July fourth celebration. But it was still fun, and pretty relaxed. At night we sat in the driveway and watched a few nearby fireworks. One of the guys asked who's birthday it was, so I told him it was America's.
