Day three hundred and thirty two.

Tuesday. November 29, 2011

Everyone's been raving about the pumpkin spice latte at Caribou! So I purchased one during a studio break for $4.01. It was a sweet treat, but I'm not sure I can justify spending this much on a drink.

The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.

I worked this weekend. With only one of the guys staying at the group home it was pretty uneventful, but we did watch a few movies. Including this chick-flick of a film, The Holiday.

Two friends and I watched an independent film called, "Between the Folds."
I loved it.

"Origami may seem an unlikely medium for understanding and explaining the world. But around the globe, several fine artists and theoretical scientists are abandoning more conventional career paths to forge lives as modern-day paper folders. Through origami, these offbeat and provocative minds are reshaping ideas of creativity and revealing the relationship between art and science."

Exactly one year ago I fell down the stairs in my parents' house and broke my fibula. Today I celebrated my recovery with a marathon. I'm most grateful for my family for being there all the way--from wheeling me around in the emergency room, to cheering me on through the finish of 26.2 miles. Ya'll are great.

I left the remnants of my loose leaf tea, Indian Chai and Crimson Berry, sitting on a sheet of watercolor paper. The leaves seeped out to form a nice conglomeration of colors & patterns.

A friend of mine invited me to an evening of meditation, which included a crystal bowl performance from a local artist. Here's an example of some crystal bowl sounds. They make an incredibly forceful sound for being such "little" vessels.

The rain was coming down hard after my last class, so to avoid soaking my shoes, I carried them in my arms and walked home barefoot. The puddles of water and rough sidewalk felt nice, and numbing. But hopefully this doesn't mean I'll get a cold.

My mama bought me an Amaryllis bulb. It came with this compact dirt disc which was fun to watch expand in water.

Saturday. November 5, 2011

In the evening while watching a movie with my good ol' friends, we felt our chairs shake underneath us--assuming maybe it was the wind knocking on the apartment, or noisy downstair's neighbors. Come to find out! there was a 5.6 mag earthquake that struck Oklahoma- luckily damage wasn't super serious.

Today my good friend turned 22.
We've known each other since middle school, which is around the time this picture was taken.
Sometimes we would enjoy messing around with the webcam and time elapse video setting on her computer. I remember often laughing to tears at what we could capture- in this one I appear to be missing an arm.
